Anyone tried one of these day-sailors? Ok short offshore tris?

http://www.seacart30.com/

Its my birthday some day this year and need a few suggestions on the present list. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> . Everyone laughs when I ask for a ORMA60 <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Define short offshore? In the right hands, it is a good offshore boat. Pete Goss &crew sailed it in the Round Ireland and Britain race and did well. Petes new site is well worth a visit: http://www.petegoss.com/

There is talk about a doublehanded regatta over the pond in Seacart 30s, but nothing firm yet.

For me, a Seacart30 is just as unobtainable as an ORMA60 <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Apart from the "sound" area, here all boats are required to conform to highest safety standard. I guess "over the pond" would have similar requirements to those. Thanks

Short offshore is "sound area" racing fairly protected in that one can get help inside a few hours. Open sea but inside a reef system that offers some protection.

The fact that they can conceive a fast foldable tri and an appeaing program does not necessarily mean that they will be able to turn it into reality. I had a bad experience of this type myself.

Take care,

Luiz

The Seacart 30 formerly owned by Pete Goss is sold to a young German crew and the project "Playing For Success" will be continued in Kiel at the Baltic Sea.
Here you can see the full story, but only in German: www.playing-for-success.de
Nice sailing in 2008 to all
