there was a thread running a while ago in which a guy showed a picture of a tornado with the hull snapped off at the front beam. The thread ground to a halt while we speculated as to how he managed to achieve this.
i never did see the outcome - anyone find it for me or know how it happened?

Paul

I posted that pick of my cat, I didn't tell anyone how it happened because I thought it might encourage some funny speculation which sort of happened. It was very topical because the thread started with someone wanting to put the bigger rig on their Tornado which is what happened with mine but it didnt handle the load after about 5 years the hull just let go in a race. When I dismantled the beam of the good hull cracks were starting in the same place. The good hull has now gone to become the centre of a trimaran after getting the cracks attended to with nacra 5.2 outriggers.

Me too! I sailed on something similar years ago, and was very impressed with it's speed and stability.

I am pretty sure that isn't a 5.2 hull beside the tornado one.

What do you know the attatchment worked apparently he's planning on 10ft wide folding beams either side as a boozer cruiser with a pile of mates. I bet there's not too many Stingrays with Boyer Tornado kickup fibrefoam rudders like mine

That make more sense to me! I have been working on my 5.2 all day so I knew those were not from them.

So, was the bigger rig the Sport Tornado rig?

The starboard ama might be an F18 but the port one (the one without the doors) is definately something else. I want to see this boat put together. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

No, you are looking at it all wrong, the car with no doors will be mounted over the tornado hull so he has a cabin, it will sleep 6, and has a seperate head, and galley. I think I can even make out a nav station.

Hijack - Lost thread of my own - someone posted a link to (I believe) a German company that builds hangliders. The context was a discussion of rigid wing boat - or aerodynamics. I can't find the link through the search engine.

there was a guy making boats (i call them boats but they only have 1 hull weird)(1/2 boats it'll never catch on) out of hi-top van roofs so i think that 3rd hull must be upside down as it will no doubt plane on that flat top section
