Posts: 145 Cheshire, UK | I'm a recent convert to the Shadow from Swell Catamarans - a high performance singlehander, with spinnaker. It's light (99Kg) and well put together. As the baby sister to the Spitfire, it is a dedicated singlehander, although it has room for a passenger. There's no jib and only one trapeze, so the 'passenger' option is for recreation only.
As ever, you will need to decide what sort of sailing you will do. If you are competing, go with the crowd, if it is liesure on a budget, maybe the H16 or smaller, and if you're competitive with the occasional crew, an F16 looks like a good design. However, being "competitive with the occasional crew" may be more difficult than you think - you both need to know what you're doing, especially on the smaller boats with a kite.
Take a look round the forum - there's loads of advice along these lines.

Unregistered | Sounds like an F16 would suit your needs well, though your budget will play a role in the decision - there are not yet many second-hand F16's around.

Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | There should be. I think there are now 3 F16's in Sweden. Two Stealth F16's and one Taipan F16.

Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | That I know of. However Sweden is not really a beach cat hot spot, you won't find many boats of any modern classes except maybe A-cats. And of course each new class starts small. This is the start of F16 in Sweden. But do you have any info on the boats or owner of the swedish f-16?
I used to but I think you can best contact Rolf Nilsen (Norway) via the F16 forum : http://www.catsailor.com/forums/postlist.php?Cat=0&Board=Fleet45or go direct to his profile : http://www.catsailor.com/forums/showprof...eads&page=0Rolf is building two F16's in Norway with a friend, in Finland 3 F16's are being completed, and I think Rolf gethered the names and contact info of all in order to make a start for the F16 class in Scandinavia. If this approach doesn't then come back to me and I'll dive deep into my archive to retrieve the names and e-mails. Good luck. Wouter

Posts: 4,451 West coast of Norway | In Sweden I know of Pontus Löfgren in Bjärred and Alf Svensson in Gothenburg. If you check Pontus profile, you will find his e-mail there. I dont know the e-mail for Alf. http://www.catsailor.com/forums/showprof...part=1&vc=1Have a look on F-16 frapper map if you want to see the hotspots: http://www.frappr.com/formula16classgroup/mapThe F-18 class is pretty successful in Sweden, while their presence is almost non-existent here in Norway. There is also a H16 class and a small Tornado class in Sweden. Valteri and I spoke briefly about a scandinavian F-16 class quite some time ago, and Hans came back to me on that just some days ago. I dont know what what will happen with that yet. We might decide to go both ways, separated or united.. Anyway, swedes, finns danes or anybody else are always welcome to race with us in Norway and we will no doubt go to Sweden and Denmark if there is activity there. We can discuss this further in the F-16 forum if there is interest. Posts: 9,582 North-West Europe | From memory, but I'm quite sure that both Pontus and Alf have Stealth F16's. The 3rd person is Magnus and he is located near Stockholm and has a Taipan 4.9 with F16 spinnaker. Oh, and we are building no less than three Blades, not two
I stand corrected and I readily admit that I'm losing track of all new F16 additions. Everywhere we get one or two new F16 sailors but the whole world over this makes for a pretty sizeable job to keep track of. Wouter
