After we stuffed it and Larry forgot to let go of the tiller(actually he was making a great attempt to save us)
His Tybee training kicked in, after we did this repair I was thinking it was just to get us back to the beach but no, we were able to finish the remaining races!

I did see that on the beach and think, "Wow, that was creative! Good reason to bring a paddle!" We nearly snapped ours as well (look closely at our rudder cross bar in background, see the "speed bend"?) during one pitch, luckily it bent but didn't break.

BUT, it was bent forward which put the tiller extension into the mainsheet blocks/traveler, so between races we had to take it off the rudders, try to un-bend it a little, then we spun it around so it was bent backwards instead of to the front and that allowed the traveler to work.

At least the boom as spared! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Well done! Whatever will work...

Just curious, where do you normally stow your paddle? I have a collapsible 1 I keep in my tramp pocket but am interested in other creative ways to stow it.

Side note, the last time I needed to paddle in when the wind disappeared, I was beat by a friend who used his cooler top to paddle with! DRAT!

I attach mine to my boom with a couple of bungie cords. Keeps it handy and out of the way.

I put a heavy aluminum sleeve inside my spin pole. It works fine and it's easier to store.

Nope no blood, just the normal blisters! that looks like peeling paint.

Cat in the Hat has a good size trap bag to keep things in, and we were talking about removing it because it was a buoy race, glad we didn't do that.

Good thing you didn't have to pull out the spare epoxy.
