Posts: 4,451 West coast of Norway | Snipped from the "weight" thread: Jalani wrote: So I guess that if you want a say in the future of the class you either join/form a National Association or join the International Assoc direct. I think we defined membership of the F16 class as being a boatowner or builder earlier? Have this changed, and how do we join the international F16 assoc if we dont have a national assoc? I tought things was not quite ready for that yet? Dont get me wrong now, I ask to better understand what was said, not becouse I am negative or against. Am I jumping to conclusions or is it premature to discuss this? PS: Let us be careful about terms and not confuse the term "international F16 assoc." with the ISAF exclusive term "International class". We have touched that discussion earlier, and there is no reason to go back there yet. | | | Re: F16 class membership

Posts: 1,382 Essex, UK | Rolf, The GC Constitution states: Membership
a) F16GC membership shall be given to the National Association of a country upon payment by said National Association of the prescribed subscription fee. At the time of payment of the subscription, the National Association shall submit details of each Fleet membership (names and addresses, boat type and sail number).
b) At a General Meeting of F16GC every member nation may exercise one vote per 10 registered boats.
c) Written delegation of the right to vote is not accepted.
d) F16GC aims at inclusive membership of all National Association fleets.
e) In the absence of a National Association, an F16 sailor may obtain direct membership of the F16GC. Direct membership such as this will not provide the member with any greater voting rights than being a member of a National Association. The fee for direct membership will be set by the Governing Council. The membership of Direct members will cease on the formation of a local National Association
The GC Treasurer is in the process of setting up an account to which membership fees can be paid and a membership application form is being prepared. In the first instance we need NAs formed (with the exception of the USA) and the NAs to join up. In countries or regions where a NA is unlikely to form in the near future, we want F16 owners to join direct. It is long overdue that F16 owners (and builders) took control of the future direction of the class rather than allowing anyone armed with a keyboard and internet access to pontificate and 'advise'.

I came back to rewrite my earlier question in a less confrontational manner, but I see it has already been rewarded with a reply. I wanted to change the posting to :
Were can I read up on the GC constitution to which is referenced ?

Posts: 1,382 Essex, UK | I thought that it was already on the class website, but having just checked, it evidently isn't. Wearing my Secretary's hat, I'll arrange to get it on there ASAP.

Posts: 4,451 West coast of Norway | Thanks John, that explains it nicely. I assume the constitution is a project the GC is working on which is not quite ready for publication yet. It is long overdue that F16 owners (and builders) took control of the future direction of the class rather than allowing anyone armed with a keyboard and internet access to pontificate and 'advise'. After the last weeks discussion, I think we are all on our toes and ready to hit such activity quite hard. | | |
