A new Yahoo groups page for US owners of Corsair Sprint 750 trimarans has been setup at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/USSprint750Class/

The purpose of this group site is encourage new/prospective owners and interested sailors to join, let us know who and where you are, and then share information about the boat and the class. The first US national championship for the class will take place this August as part of the 2008 Corsair National Championship to be raced on Buzzards Bay. Corsair has built around 80 Sprint 750's since the class was introduced in late 2005. The factory in Vietnam is currently sold out and many new boats are shipping to Australia.

There are already pictures and files posted on this group site and since Friday, 11 members have joined. We are trying to get the word out via various forums to locate our owners and open a line of communication through this group. We are really hoping we can start making the class visible at various NOOD events across the country as well participating in more regional sailing events to show the general sailing public what a fun and exciting boat the Sprint 750 is. There's a reason SAILING WORLD named the boat its 2007 Sportboat of the Year.

Sail fun, sail fast!

From their website, ". . .It won't go into irons, it will tack and go to weather as well as or better than any monohull (and certainly better than any beach cat), "

So I can fork over my $49,000 and beat you and your A cat to the weather mark. Is that correct?

Good one Tiki !

Some of these claims are getting a bit too outlandish.

So, I take it you both have sailed one and have extensive knowledge of the boat, right? How many races have you won on it or sailed in on it? The 750 is a nice ride and every beachcat owner, IMO, should aspire to have a tri when they grow up...

cum grano salis ...

I don't think anyone believes everything on any manufacturer's site. Best not to argue over stuff like this. You could spend hours debating whether it is true that one site says it's cat is the "best" F18. etc etc etc ETC

Nice boat. Ridiculous claim.

Just out of curiosity, what would be the most weatherly boat on the planet?

I've owned and raced/cruised one for a year. Performance wise, the boat's sailplan really powers up in 10-12 knots of breeze. Upwind we'll sail 9.5-10.5 knots boatspeed max with around a 95 degree tacking angle. Downwind we'll sail around 1.2 times the windspeed when the boat is planing (that's typically in anything over 10 knots) up to 18-20 knots max boatspeed. Jibing angle is 80-100 degrees ranging from heavy to light air respectively.

In mixed PHRF racing, we're faster than anything 32 feet and under in 4-6 knots. I'd say we are keeping up with 35-40 foot racing keelboats in 7-10 knots and keeping up with 45-50 racing keelboats in anything over 12 knots where the center hull starts to plane.

The really cool thing about this boat to me is how much fun it is to take friends daysailing. I took my mom (87 years young), brother, and sister-in-law out for an afternoon of sailing. It started around 5-7 knots of wind so we headed out into Lake Pontchartrain on a close reach at 8-8.5 knots using the mainsail and screacher. We sailed for a couple of hours and turned around. On the broad reach home, the breeze picked up to around 10-12 knots and we saw 13 knots of boatspeed on the GPS (again using just the main and screacher).

The boat has a Portsmouth rating of around 65 so it's about as fast as a Hobie 20. Not bad, not bad at all especially when you can sip a beer while you are sailing.

I have a great combo with the A-Class and the Sprint. Nice pair of toys!

I sailed on one for half of the FWB round the island in 2006. Dissappointing because the wind just wasn't there (hence "half" of the RTI). Very nice boat, wish I had been on it when there was more wind though. Not much, if anything, for cruising with very minimal interior. I can't say much about the F31 yet but I will be cruising that more than racing it- by far.

I agree about the cruising statement above but you could overnight it with some cushions inside and it has the largest **** of any Corsair (including the 31) which is really nice for daysailing.

You guys have much deeper pockets than I. So, for me, the Blade and the Tiki will have to suffice.
