Got this from Nigel/Mr Ernie this AM......

Good evening:

Thanks to the local people here in Hartwell getting behind us, and a number of you sailors voicing your regrets to our local paper and politicians, we were able to convince the Corps of Engineers to re-open the park just for the regatta. With our great sponsors, that have stayed with us through the years, we will again provide you with food and refreshments throughout the three day event.

Just wanted to remind everyone that the Spring Fever Regatta is really your regatta. We don't have a fleet of boats here on the lake that we are inviting you to join with just to race. We hold this regatta to bring all of you together to keep this sport, which seems to be on the decline, alive and viable by again proving that regattas can be fun, educational, and competitive to all levels of sailors and their different choices of multihulls.

Your attendance is not only requested, but truly needed to keep this caliber Regatta in place for future years. I want to thank all of the seventy boats already signed up to race and encourage you to persuade your sailing buddies to join you.

As I attend a good many of your local regattas, I am always surprised to hear from many of the locals: "We don't travel to other events." Those of you local sailors that say this might soon find yourself wondering why people stopped coming to your Regatta. I would love to reach our one hundred boat goal this year and you, each of you, are the only ones that can make this happen.

Please make some calls to your friends and encourage, (beg, or threaten) them to make the effort to come sail with us.

The support we get from our local community, of which very few are multihullers, or even sailors in most cases, is pretty amazing. We don't have a sailing club, just a tight group of friends willing to put in the many hours necessary to put on this event and document it on the Internet for you to relive and enjoy for years to come.

I want to thank all of you that attend each year and look forward to this coming event. Tammy and I are glad to once again open our home to you, and look forward to seeing you soon.

Thanks and please pre-register now at: http://TwinHulls.com/springfever2008/
