years ago, one of the head guys at the company that makes 'easy off' was a sailor. he had some 35-40 foot sail boat with [censored] bottom paint on her. he tried a bit on a sample piece and sent it off to the lab to get checked for damage to the laminate. the lab boys said it was fine. the easy off removed all of the anti foul.
this was on a polyester laminate, with a shitty gel coat, not an epoxy matrix.
trust me.

Dave,
I agree with Jake, sand it off.

To get it to look shiny, 2 part poly clear coat, I like the water based System Three LPU. Doesnt smell, you can work with it inside without killing yourself.

It doesnt last as long as the solvent based poly, but its so easy to redo, that you just hit the area with some 100 grit and put on more clear coat if it needs a touch up. Foam brushes can be tossed when you are done, or regular brushes clean up with water.

I've done all my carbon parts with it, masts, beams, spin poles, booms. Every couple of years I rough up the spots that need touch up and reapply more poly.
