Last month we displayed a Rogers built Shark Catamaran at the Rochester (NY) boat show. This was done for the purpose of promoting catamaran sailing and the Canandaigua Yacht club. It cost us $600 for 4 days. Volunteers put the display together- a lot of people doing a little work each. We were the only sailboat there!

The result was 35 quailified prospects for the club, 10 people interested in catamarans. Also a list of people who wanted to go for a ride on a Shark. It was all worthwhile for me when on the first day, a gentleman came up to me and said he was interested in getting a catamaran to sail on Canadaigua Lake- could I help him?

My only regret is not hanging a sign on the sail that said "gasoline, $0.00"

Outstanding. Thanks for sharing your experience with this. I'd like to think there's more opportunity for us to make use of boat shows to make people aware of cat sailing.

Here's your picture btw -

Two things that would make Sharks absolutely killer:

1 - a main traveller (and don't tell me you can't have one becuase of the hinge - that's an engineering problem easily solved)

2 - At least one trapeze. Two would be better

Thanks for the compliment- I guess we're killer now!
Here is a picture of Jerry Pattenaude and Joe Leiberman
Joe does a great job on the trapeze- especially going downwind. Thg traveler was simple to mount, and Jerry has no trouble manging it.
Many of us have a strong vang that does an "ok" job subbing for the traveller. I have toyed with putting a traveller on mine- I would love it for rounding the leward mark. my problem is that my boat is overweight already, and I have beaten sharks that use travelers. The "elder" shark sailors have gotten rid of all the gadgets, and have us keeping our heads outside the boat.
