Is anyone using Jay and Pease's most recent F18 designs on a Tiger? If so what are the differences that you are seeing vs. the stock Hobie sails? Sail weigh, draft, twist, battens etc...

Also does anyone know who is building the stock Hobie Sails? Who is doing the Design?

Thanks

Stock Hobie Tiger sails are designed by Ulman Italy.

Thanks Flumpmaster. I promise to make sure there is a Formula 18 in every garage or mast up storage spot! Capitol "L" if you mean me.

I use Glaser sails. What kind of boat are you putting them on? Are you looking for Main, Jib, Spinnaker?

These are going on a new Tiger, interested in Main, Jib and Spin. The F18/Tiger/mast section are new to me so I do not have a reference point to work from. Key is that I am racing both F18 and Tiger Class events and I do not want to chew up my new Tiger class sails before NAs. I am looking for an alternative set of sails, most likely tweaked for a combined crew weight of 345lbs/154kg. In the past I have used Danger, Smyth, Doyle(my designs), and Ullman Zuccoli - so I have a good grounding in sailcloth and design but I need some help getting started with the new class and sails.

I am very interested to hear your impressions on the difference between the Hobie/Ulman stock sails and the Jay/Pease's sails. I hear a lot of the design work in the Glaser sails are coming directly from the design work that they are doing with Guck and Melvin in the A Class, and if that is true then it's quite a good staring point. Quesiton I am trying to answer is do I buy a second set of class Tiger sails or experiment with something else.

If you write Jay and Pease they will quickly tell you what is going on with their design, how much is coming from their sail development in the A-class with Lars, Pete, Jeremy and Howie as well as off their own A's. jay@glasersails.com
