Has anyone been sailing on Lake Almanor? I'm planning on being there for a few days in July and wonder if I should bring my H16. If so, how is the wind and where is a good place to launch?
Thanks

Typical winds are thermals that develop in the afternoons. Hot air from the valley comes up the Feather River Canyon and over the dam at the southeast end of the lake. The best winds are on the east half of the lake and a steep chop is common on the northeast shore in the late afternoon. Typical winds are
10-15 in the afternoon. Bring the cat.

Paul is still at CSU, is converting the 18-2 into a class legal F-18, and I have the Tornado on Tomales Bay now. The Sea Sprays both have 24' masts with high aspect mains but are mostly parked. Nice to hear from you Bob.
