Posts: 264 Long Island, NY | In light of the reporting of dammage at the mid-winters, I was wondering if someone could enlighten me regarding types of insurance. A post a while back mentioned US Sailing insurance for $246. What kinds of insurance cover a beach cat in these 4 scenarios:Parked in my yard(homeowners), trailering to a race(auto ins?), dammaged by vandals on a public beach, dammage in a race. I'd like to be covered in these areas. Thanks, Greg

You can get that for a price or set a dollar value on the boat. Ask the hard questions such as being covered during racing. Is the mast covered, are the sailes covered, are they pro-rated? A good insurance person likes to yak about insurance. Most have no problem with racing. Make sure you are talking to the insurance company's "boat" person. Good luck. Ed

Posts: 264 Long Island, NY | Thanks guys. I'll look into the insurance companies I presently deal with and also call US Sailing and the Progressive Insurance company that many of the cat sailors out there seem to like.

I'm boatless.

Posts: 3,293 Long Beach, California | That is specifically why I pay a smidgeon more for the US SAILING one-design insurance - it is a racing policy based on agreed-value. I got the charter option, too - my boat is covered if I charter it, and I am covered on any charter boat. Really a well-thought-out racer's policy.
Thus endeth the advert. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

After watching Lionel Messi play, I realize I need to sail harder.
