My crew and I are heading down to Key Largo to get some sailing in before Tybee next week (since we're currently in upstate NY and all the ice is cramping our style) and are wondering if there is anyone who is interested in tuning with us. I know there are a couple boats close to the Key Largo/Islamorada area, are you guys interested in coming out? We're in an Infusion so it would be sweet to practice sailing against a 20, at least for one day.

Sunday, 3-16 is the St Patty's day regatta at Dunedin Causeway outide of Tampa, there will be a couple of 20's doing that race, why don't you stop there on your way to the keys?

Tburd do you live in upstate NY? I wasn't aware of any Infusions there. If you are looking for some great F18 open class racing then Ontario and Quebec are getting good numbers. Probably 20-30 in Quebec and 10-15 in Ontario on the line at most events. If you are interested in more details let me know.

ksurfer2, the boat is already in Key Largo, we're flying in to Miami on Saturday night, so it would be pretty rushed to get up to Tampa for Sunday morning. We did sail the Hangover regatta at Dunedin in January against a few 20s, but all of them DNFed. Thanks for letting me know about the race though.

Tburd, I will be home on spring break on the dates you listed. I am also training for the Tybee. I would love to tune with you guys. I have an N-20 at the Miami yacht club, and at the Islander in Islamorada. Either location works fine. Let me know if you are interested and we'll work something out.

I was one of the boats that DNF'd. Sailing in ZERO visiblity and shifting winds without a compass or GPS was not my idea of a fun or safe sail. I chose to DNF out of concern for safety.

Karl you failed to mention another reason you dropped out was because of the fact that you had to ask a fishing boat where you were! Had I known you had dropped out (even though you were probably 5 feet from me I still couldn't see you) I would have dropped out too as we didn't have a GPS or anything.
Tyler is trying to sound like a badass when reality he was the only one with a GPS! Must have been nice!

jjs1989, that sounds awesome. We're keeping our boat at Whale Harbor, which I think is just a couple of miles north of the Islander. Are you going to be around for the whole week? We're on spring break, so we're just planning on basically sailing everyday and maybe doing some big distance days. It would be sick if you would be interested in doing some long sails with us.

Are you registered for Tybee yet? If so, what team are you sailing on?

PM me and lets figure out some definitive plans for next week.

Tyler

Geeze Todd, I wasn't saying anything about us being badass, just that we didn't end up sailing against any 20s.

That was pretty wild! everything from sun, wind, fog, rain, lightning, no wind ... all in a few hours.

After that fog i went and found a $2 compas that is now hanging off my boom!
