Figured a new thread was in order:

How goes it?
Uni trapping downwind vs not? Who wins? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

sailing was excellent today.
Winds 15 to 20 building to 25 with gust in low 30's.
4 races before race committee called everything off due to severe carnage.
14 F16's and 16 A's.
Lots of boats over and the crash boat had a lot of work to do.
Viper was extremely fast with Robbie Daniel at the helm.
Matt & Gina held their own looking as fast as ever.
Off the water at 3pm with slight damage to most boats and major damage to Blade 777.
Results of top 3 for the day:
1) Viper (Robbie and Matt)
2) Blade (Matt & Gina the magnificent) They totally rock...
3) Taipan 4.9 (Seth & Stefan)

A's
1) Ben Moon
2) Woody Cope
3) Not sure (to much beer)sorry no disrespect...

Lots of honorable mentions to The Chuck (showed up on his old Taipan with the hat, Pete Pollard, and lots others...

Good stories forthcoming.....

Tomorrow's forcast of 10-15 with gusts up to 21.
Can't Wait....

Talked to Robi..
sounds intense out there.. lots of capsizes. Seems like the kind of situation wherein you know you can do well if you keep it upright but despite your best efforts... over you go.

Speaking of the Viper, I got to see several up close yesterday at the Singapore Nationals. They certainly seemed quick. I'm hoping I got some good footage on my Hero 3 of one screaming downhill. I forgot to bring my micro-usb cable to Singapore so I won't be able to check the video till I get home tomorrow, but if it's worth seeing I'll be sure to post it somewhere.

Bloody hell, can we get some normal sailing conditions for a change !

Like a nice 10-14 knots ?

Hopefully tomorrow the wind will settle down a bit. The viper was smoking both up and downwind. Robbie had that boat pointing higher and faster than everyone else. Obviously the skipper Robbie Daniels has lots to do with it. I am sure if he were on a sunfish he would have spanked all of us. Good showing though nonetheless.

The winds were a steady 18 and gusts were very violent and extreme. We capsized three times in our last race (2nd race for the first day) and we broke our rudder arm cross bar. The boat is already repaired thanks to Timbo for lending us his and we will sail again tomorrow.

Excellent showing for the F16. At one point I counted 12 F16 on the water and 14 were registered. Hopefully tomorrow the winds drops a little bit and the sailing conditions are not so much survivor sailing, but enjoyable-power-the-boat up sailing.

Seems to happen that way.... and works out well - for everyone except the dude with the broken out of commission boat! Functions as a spare parts box! I filled that role last week.
Sorry Timbo... I feel your pain.

I would still rather have it that way than a drifter!

Today was nice. Somewhat on the lighter side of the first couple of races, then in the third race winds picked up maybe to 10 knots.

There are a few hundred images. I am waiting on my friend to upload them to his website.

Unofficial
Robbie Daniel/Matt Lynch - Viper
Matt/Gina McDonald - Blade
Joanna/(cant remember the name) - Blade - To Sharp to Touch.

We had 13 boats on the line today. The A cat fleet had us beat by one boat. All in all awesome weekend, lots of wind on the first day. Not that much on the second day. Great food, great crowd, what else can you ask for? Images coming soon.

Robi,

That would be "Joana and Lynn" I guess.

Also is Matt Lynch the owner of that Viper F16 with a carbon mast ?

All I remember from Saturday was wind noise, spray and lots of boats on their sides. Conditions were rough enough that some of the Uni guys doubled up. If I hadn't had a big beefy crew I wouldn't even have rigged Saturday.

Sunday was a mix of everything: fog, low hanging clouds, light shifty wind, stronger shifty winds and bright sunshine. Some nice spinnaker runs without feeling you were taking your life in your hands!

We had quite a "Northern" invasion and they did very well, as a group and individually. I hope they all had a good time and will come again next year.

Friday night was registration at Gordon's. Weather was miserable, but there was plenty of food and a little rum.

Saturday night was dinner at the club, more rum and the traditional fire pit.

Sunday afternoon was pizza and plenty of drinks.

Gil and Kathleen made it over from Belgium and seemed to be enjoying themselves. So, all in all it was a great weekend.

The Viper is a gorgeous boat and Robbie and Matt had it smokin'. So with three builders to choose from, I'd say the F16 fleet is in very good shape.

I must say Kathleen and I had a great time. It was great to have so many boats and people together. Also the organization was great!

I think it would be great if someone could post the entire results (of every race we have done).

My conclusion:
Viper scored the first day.
Matt and Gina did the second day (together with the 1-up Blade and Taipan crews).

That club does a fantastic job of organizing races. From having a PRO to chase boats to food & drinks after the races. Unbelievable. Thanks Gulfport Yacht Club.

BTW, it's that way for their club races too!

If I lived closer I'd have my boat there!

FAR OUT! Welcome. Now, we need to work on Timbo.

BTW- Would you care to compare and contrast the Blade and Taipan?

<img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I'll file a grievance with the board.

I forgot to mention that Team JUMBO (Arie and I) beat TEAM S&S at least once, maybe twice!
