In Nebraska we are only dreaming of getting back in the water, but it gives us time to do boat maintenance and think of new ideas. My H16 is all in pieces for winter storage and the trailer is the only thing that's too big to squeeze out of sight. I have an idea to make it smaller and that is to eliminate the long arms that support the hulls. Just cut them off with my new plasma torch.

My idea is to weld new uprights to support the front and rear crossbars of the trampoline and let the hulls hang in the air. I don't travel very far to the lake. Launching and recovering might get a bit trickier, but the trailer sure would be narrower. I can always weld the arms back on if it doesn't work out or install new arms. Since I figure some of you guys have been at this longer than I have, has this been tried before?

Thanks,

Scott Laughlin,

A cats do this all the time, but their hulls weigh significantly less and their cross-beams are seated much more securely. I'd be hesitant to do it because of the way the beams are mounted on a 16.
