Take this months Sailing World readers poll.

Reader's Poll:

ISAF has decided to exclude the Tornado from the 2012 Olympics. What is your opinion of multihull sailing?

-Multihulls rule, monohulls drool.

-Why should two hulls deserve twice the attention?

-Good for the beach, but not the Olympics.

-It's their own fault. The need to get more organized.

Thanks for the post and link. Seems to be working, multis rule and monos drool is way ahead.

It is very cool... but I think one more answer in there that is pro multis and not against monos should be there.
There is one for multis and against monos.... and 3 basically against multis.

I'm loving seeing that answer 1 is way ahead, but is it going to anger monohull sailors that are in the edge?

Bob, Thanks! Todd, as a convert, current catsailor, and fan, of the sport, and Olympics I am all for stirring the pot at this point. Maybe I'm wrong, but I say let's get everyone riled up!

Maybe they worded the choices as they did so that they would be able to tell pretty well how many multihull sailors and how many monohull sailors voted in the poll. The first choice would be all multihull sailors, the second and third choices would be all monohull sailors, and the fourth choice would be divided.

So far it looks like the majority of sailors voting are multihullers, but maybe that is just because it is ABOUT multihulls, and the monohullers don't really care.

Anyway, I didn't see an answer I liked. No matter which one you pick, it makes multihulls look bad in some way.

Am I the only one who thinks this poll is outrageous from a major sailing publication?

It smacks of trying to be divisive. Auh, but then, I'm old and tend to be a bit cynical.

I agree - though I tend to give them the benefit of a doubt in that perhaps they were trying to be "cute". However, I've watched sailing world really transition away from multihulls in the last year...we've lost some writers over there who favored multihulls. I'm at the point now where I'm thinking about not renewing my subscription.

All you have to do is renew your US Sailing membership under the promotion for the free one year subscription. That's the guaranteed way I found to make sure it doesn't make it to your mailbox.
