On May 3, and 4 the Ohio Catamaran Racing Association is hosting a regatta at Alum Creek. Check out Alum Creek Sailing Association's for lake details.

http://www.alumcreeksailing.com/acsamain.aspx

So far it looks like there will be 7 F17's and a hand full of other boats. From past experience that includes Mystere 4.3's, Hobie 16's, Hobie 17's and Hobie 18's.

It's always a good time. You can check out last years results at www.sailocra.com (notice all the starts).

hmmmm.....only about an hour and half north of me.

Ryan - H16 I prefer to go sailing because baseball, football, tennis, and golf only require 1 ball!

Ryan from Cincinnati?

What/where do you sail?

I think you should visit www.members.aol.com/hsasailing/hsa. As far as I know we are the only active cat sailors in the area. We regularly get 4 to 5 hobies every Sunday.

Spring is finally coming to the Northern region. Alum Creek is a great place to kick off the season. There may be a few Acats there as well. If you are thinking of a vacation this summer. Come on up to the Great Lakes and bring your boat for some fun. Take a look at CRAM, OCRA, and CRAW websites for the 2008 sailing schedules. The DN iceboat is officially stored and the Acat is coming out of storage. See you on the water.

As far as I can tell, Cincinnati doesn't have any sailing.

I haven't sailed my H16 yet, but I used to sail my Sunfish at East Fork. Only ever saw the occasional monohull at East Fork. I'll probably be sailing the Hobie at Cowan.

Anyhow, sorry for the Hijack, I might try to head up and watch some of the racing.

Not Cincinatti proper, but there's a lot of sailing at Caesar Creek Lake about 30 miles northeast of Cincinatti.

There used to be a regatta called May Day which was held at Ceasers Creek (45 mins north of Cincy) the first weekend of May every year. But the hosting club just lost interest in racing. It was a tradition lost. I can remember my parents taking me to May Day back in the earky 80's. They used to have bragging rights for one of the longest running regattas.

So many thanks to Alum Creek SA for stepping in and putting on a great regatta in place of May Day.

Ryan, bring your boat to Alum. I know of 3 H16's and 1 H17 already going from our area (Hueston Woods guys). And I would say they're the best in the area and could hold there own anywhere. They can get you up to speed quick.

I'll try to bring my boat, if I have it ready. I've still got a lot to do. Either way I'm going to try to make it up.

I work in Lebanon, so Ceasers Creek and Cowan are both about 15-20 minutes from the office. I'm probably going to end up keeping the boat at one of them, whomever has the cheapest mast up storage would be the deciding factor. The power boats at Ceaser scare me....

I didn't even know Hueston Woods had enough water to sail.
