I am setting up a righting pole on my N 5.7 and need to set up some lines to keep it from swinging fore and aft. any suggestions? I am trying to keept simple and used the loop and knot setup that I found on beachcats for side to side lines. but the post says nothing about fore and aft stabelization.

G'day azcat I just had a pulley centre of main beam and rear beam. Tied of bungee to the rear beam then ran it from the rear through the main beam block, back through the rear beam block and tied onto the pole. It gave more than enough stretch regards

i'm still working on the system i'll use on my 5.2 but i found a rear line to the aft beam and a forward line to the bridal wire tang? quite stable. will probably tie small loops of spectra line to each and then snap to those. pic attached

Yes, I understand that, but how about some innovative ways for stowage of these fore and aft stabilizer lines. By the way Erice, I like your righting pole. if the cat wants to go to the bottom, that wood may work for a life raft.LOL. "Jeffs", I didnt understand a word of that as far as helping stabilize the righting pole fore and aft while in use.Maby pics would help. Whatever it is , it will have to release once the boat is upright or there will be hell to pay.

I recently got a hobie 16 after several years of being boatless, Unfortunately, I do not always have crew to sail with. I was wondering what people's experience has been with various solo-righting systems. I've used a bucket system before, and found it a bit of a hassle. I want to be able to sail solo without worrying about righting the boat if I flip.

Sorry azcat that was just for stowage I missread your post. I made my own for a stingray and it didn't need to be stabilized for and aft in fact I could set my stopper knot, lean out and just stand on the centreboard, once your weight is out the pole will be centred. Once the boat is comming up and you let go of the pole the bungee in my earlier post pulls it to the rear beam, you then jump on the boat reach over the main beam release the stopper knot and away you go. The pole never touches the hull. As for photo's Ricks power righting on this website has puuurfect photo's. Dont underestimate the strain on your fitting that attatches your pole to the main beam, if you get it wrong and that breaks you get a beautiful hole through your tramp and will be left bobbing around regards
