Went sailing this last Saturday at the Claremont Launch Ramp in sunny Long Beach, CA.
The wind was offshore and gusting from 12 to 18 knot when I got to the beach. Temperature was a very unusual 90 degrees f . One of the first things I noticed while setting up the rig was that these F16s still have a few bugs to be worked out of the system. I don’t know where these came from, but there wasn’t anything between my Blade and the water except sand. These little buggers (yes many of them were) were hanging on for dear life. When the wind died for a minute, then shifted to an on-shore direction, they just left.

I've read they are a sign of good luck. Quickly, spend $5 on the Lotto!

Just did a quick search on lady bugs and luck. There is more information than I want, but the Sanscrit name is "Indragopa" (Indra's shepherdess). Seems these little buggers are linked with Divinity!? Go figure!

They must have been good luck. The next day seemed to be perfect conditions for a Blade.
The wind was as steady as I've experienced and about 12-15 knots from SW. Water was unusually flat for the area and the windspeed. I was able to pass my friend on his A Cat on all points of sail except on one reach that wasn't quite broad enough for me to deploy the spinnaker.
