Just bought a Prindle 16 this weekend and the hulls are soft on the tops towards the front. The sides(waterline area) and the top under neath the tramp area are solid. Can I drill holes and inject epoxy into them like they do for Lasers and Sunfish, or is this a more complicated fix?

Yes, injecting epoxy filler will help. If the area is large, might want to consider a different approach like cutting away the outer glass and removing/replacing the foam core.

A prindle 16 and an A cat. That is an intresting combo. I assume that is the cat that was sitting in the parking lot this weekend?
Thanks for doing RC this weekend.

Dave, you were a great deal of help to us too... As you know we had some problems on Sunday making the starts.(truck trans problems) I looked again at the P-16 and the front of the hulls (soft) sorry we failed to get back with you on that. Sam did however buy the 24' Rainbow from Bob. Enjoyed the live music.

its pretty large areas on both hulls, I dont really want to cut into the boat if I can help it, but I also dont want to put 2 gallons of epoxy in it either!

Hey Dave,
We had to do that to friend's P-16 about 15 years ago. We drilled 1/4" hole then put an allen wrench in a drill to hollow out inside the hole. Then do grid that connects the hollows. Afterwards you have to fill and fair the holes which covers the stock non-skid.It came out solid and sturdy. If I were to do it again ,I think it would almost be easier to reconstruct the section with new glass and foam.
Good luck with it, if ya got any questions gimme a shout ,ya got my number.
