Sometime Back I started a thread talking about my uncle who passed away and was an avid Multihull sailor and promoter of our sport on the gulf coast of florida.
They renamed last years Stiletto nats (and corsair regatta) the "Bob Buzzelli Legacy Regatta".
I was just down there in Sarasota talking to he race organizer while drinking beers on a S27 doing 15 knots on a close reach on sarasota bay. Anyway, we want to make this thing a premier Multihull event. Big Boats, little boats and in between boats. I would love to see a N20, F18, A-cat, and F16 fleet show up to go buzz around the big corsairs and stiettos. The first day of racing is usually a distance race in the gulf down to Venice Jetty and back, followed by 2 days of buoys in the bay.
I therefore am calling on all Mulihullers to reserve oct 16-20 for an amazing event on beautiful sarasota bay. Last year we had about 3o plus stiletto's and Corsairs and a smattering of other boats including RC 27 and a Hobie 21. This year we hope to get more Corsairs and hopefully a couple of beach cat classes . Thats YOU dunedin causeway, gulfport, miami and p'cola fleets! (and anyone else who wants to make a trip to one of the most beautiful places to sail in America). This is just my first step in trying to promote this event (proceeds of which will got to the youth sailing program). I hope everyone considers it seriously.
A little background. this is basically the stiletto nats on steroids. The stiletto fleet is still active in sarasota and has some of the best sailors I have been around participating. The event has a long history and has been hosted by the sarasota sailing squadron for the last 20 years or something. The party is always a ton of fun, the guys who are long time participants are great, and sarasota is generally really fun place with lots of things for the wife and kids to do (including sail of course!). The squadron is steps away from Mote marine aquarium and a short walk to the fancy shops and great restaurants of St. Armands Circle. Just over the bridge, downtown has more food and galleries and bars too!
Most importantly to me, is that this events Honors the memory of the man who taught me how to sail and contributed tremendously the multihull community at large.
It's gonna be a BLAST!!!
Charlie

I'd love it if we could get a good beach cat fleet there for that. If they won't show up, I'd gladly crew for anyone who needs crew on a larger cat or tri.

Yes, indeed, last year's “Buzzelli Multihull Rendezvous with Stiletto Nationals” was a great success with a fantastic turnout, competitive, and fun. This year we want to even make it better with more participants and more classes. The Sarasota Sailing Squadron is an excellent venue with easy access to the Gulf of Mexico and the beautiful Sarasota Bay right there. The facilities include beach, ramp, and hoist launching. There are simple accommodations with showers, kitchen, club-house, and camping on the premises. Sarasota offers many attractions, check it out: http://www.sarasotafl.org/ or for a view: http://fl.skysothebysrealty.com/sarasotacam/ Calling All Multihull Sailors to come sail the Buzzelli Multihull Rendezvous. Races will take place October 17, 18, and 19. Spread the word, put it on your calendar!
