Posts: 186 Chattanooga, TN | Was great. lot of wind and waves. A little rain while sailing but not bad. in the nonspin cats Garland won first with the H17. In the spin it was Oley/joanna, Mike and David, and Jim and I third. The new club house is great. Was a really fun weekend. Always fun to me to have alot of wind and some monoslugs on the course. We would fly past them to windward.

(but of course so did he)). Really interesting wind. Sat it was sustained 10-12, but then we would get these 18-20 wind lines blow through. Sunday's first race was about 10, then all of a sudden it was blowing a steady 21. Unfortunately there were not enough boats for individual classes.. So there was an Open A and Open B class. F18s made up the largest group with 4 boats. There were no H16s.. I'm not sure where everyone was. But you missed out on a great event. There were a few with exceptions... Jake, David S. and Zander were down in FL for Alter Cup. | | | Re: How was Tommy Whiteside? Rained out?

That would give Oley 5, Lennard 6, Abrams 11, Pitt 12. If you don't use the throw out as the si's state then Abrams and Lennard are tied and Lennard had 2 first and Abrams only had 1 first in the the list of scores so Lennard would win the tie breaker. I think I read the rules right (Mike helped). | | | Re: How was Tommy Whiteside? Rained out?

Posts: 1,253 Columbia South Carolina, USA | Dave, after you mentioned that at awards, I went back to the SI's and couldnt find that anywhere. Im looking at them right now and still dont see it. I truly want it to be fair and correct, I mean you got me trying to take your trophy, Nigel putting holes in your boat, you guys need a break!

Posts: 12,310 South Carolina | The S.I.s would have needed to take exception Appendix A "A2" and specify some other scoring method in order to NOT have any throwouts. You're thinking of the SI's that specify a throw-out after four races - they're making an amendment to Appendix A to keep from having a throwout after two races. 89.3 Scoring; The race committee shall score a race or series as provided in Appendix A using the Low Point System, unless the sailing instructions specify the Bonus Point System or some other system. A race shall be scored if it is not abandoned and if one boat sails the course in compliance with rule 28.1 and finishes within the time limit, if any, even if she retires after finishing or is disqualified.
. . . From Appendix A:
A2 SERIES SCORES Each boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. (The sailing instructions may make a different arrangement by providing, for example, that no score will be excluded, that two or more scores will be excluded, or that a specified number of scores will be excluded if a specified number of races are completed. A race is completed if scored; see rule 89.3(a).) If a boat has two or more equal worst scores, the score(s) for the race(s) sailed earliest in the series shall be excluded. The boat with the lowest series score wins and others shall be ranked accordingly.
