It was brought to my attention last week, that I started building 002 before I went off to Zandervort in May 2004.

This on again, off again project will get completed. Just not sure when.

Some progress shots.

The hull ready for the main deck.

The deck on.

Its still over hanging, and needs planing back.

Some pallet strapping to help me hold it in place while screwing it down.

It's a good feeling when you can see a little more progress.

I let it cure in the loft over the long weekend before I took the screws out yesterday and planned it back today.

Still needs the holes filled and a small amount of fairing.

Onto the next hull, for a change.

Ahhhhh

I just love it when I can see some progress.

Possibly a week of filling and sanding, including some fairing of the keel I didn't finish.

Then the fore deck.

A quick update.

I have been fairing and sanding madly. I am over it, but resigned to the fact that the bows still need some more of both. Plus once the fore decks go on, the finishing touches will need to be completed.

The sterns are complete as are the beam landings.

Iam still on track to have both hulls ready for paint by the end of May. [Linked Image]

Hi Tony,

So this is why we have not seen you on the water for so long.

Looking good and can't wait to see the final product on the water. Best of luck with it.

Cheers
Stephen

Thanks Steve

I didn't plan on taking so long.

But I replaced sailing with a crusing motorcycle, and it just got away from me.

Looking forward to doing both next season.

Did you really need to steam the decks in place.?

My memory must be fading, but I cant recall doing this on the 2 blades we built here in SA.!

Hi Marcus

I poured boiling water ovet the deck, lots of steam coming up. Each time I tightened up the ratchets just a litte.

Then put the pallet strapping on to tighted up the deck in between. Will leave in place for 3 days now. And work on the SB hull.
I weighed the hull with the ply on it. 25.85 kgs.

Glued down 1 fore deck yesterday, thanks to Phill coming along and prodding me.

This photo shows the deck screwed down with over hangs, to be planned off next week. The block of foam on the nose will be glued down later and sanded (more sanding )to the shape of the fore-deck.

I have allocated 4 more afternoons next week to work on the boat.
After that I have to get to know ny family again.
And spend 3 or 4 hours a week.

Revised date for ready for paint. End of June. [Linked Image]

Both fore-decks are glued down. Port hull screwed down. SB hull is roughly sanded. Ready for fairing( )The foam blocks are glued to the bow as well. They need to be sanded to the shape of the fore-deck.
This afternoon I trim the port hull and an have it ready for fairing.

The count down is on to have it ready by Thursday afternoon. [Linked Image]

The problem with tortured ply, is that there are a lot of highs and lows. That means lots of filling and sanding. To date I have applied 12kgs of filler and sanded off between 10 and 11 kgs of it.

What that shows me, is that Iam not very good at fairing. Iam confident that I would have had a painted platform if I was better at fairing.

Any way this photo shows that it is getting very close. All the major work will be done by Thursday arvo. But on closer inspection, there is a lot of highs and lows that need to be addressed.

Just a quick update.

Started working on boat again this week. Decks are partially glassed and looking good.

By the end of next week, should be ready for mounting beams.

So far I have collected a spinnaker kit, Main and jib, rudders and stocks, I already have centre boards.

I hope to have a broken carbon mast in my possesion soon, to see if it can be fixed.

Regards Tony
