Can I use a mama bob on my 1986 TheMightyHobie18 since the bouyancy value on the cheaper mama is only a couple pounds less than the more expensive hobie bob? Should I spend the extra cash for such a small difference??? Opinions please! Thanks DJ PS Is there a problem with the different attachment hardware when hooking it up to my comptip??

The Mama isn't designed to work on your TheMightyHobie18 out of the box. Potentially, you could make a custom mounting bracket of some kind, but I think the issue is that the masthead on the 18 isn't designed to take the load, so it's better to attach to the comptip itself. The only float designed to work on the TheMightyHobie18 is part 30113 rotating mast head float. This float uses a separate 'mast' to attach it to the comptip. This part isn't currently available.

I hade the big bob the one jeremy referes to it worked great it alto qutie big. I just bot the moma for ny new/old 16 In my opinon the mama is pleny of floatation for the 18. from an intermediate stand point. Regaurless of what is avilable the mounting of eithe the moma ot the large bob on to an 18 will encounter some rivits. I'm nor sure but if you have an old non comp tip h-18 i bet the mamae will bolt up "not sure tho" its the aftermaket / comptip that requres thew rivvets. In my humble opinon the mama is perfect for the 18, you can figue out the mounting. athe big bob is nice for the huge safty factor .those are my 2 cents. H-18 if you know whats up I whould go with mamas, larger safty factor go with bob.
