The inaugural Hobie Wave Midwest Championships are just around the corner. All boats for charter are now spoken for and we are just a week away. We have a past national champion showing up and the rest of the field will be competitive, fighting for a win on this "First for Indy" event. Party at the Clubhouse and Band on Saturday night. This is a great venue, attached to the 30+ year old Mayors cup as it is Indianapolis Indiana just a week prior to the Indianapolis 500. Plenty of non-sailing/race activies for the family that cant be on a boat day and night. 16th 17th and 18th guys and gals! Info? skip@inquisitiveeye.com

The results are in!

The Wave Midwest Champion is Patrick Green, 2006 National Champ, of Put-in-Bay, Ohio (on left). 2nd place was Ki Hickok, up and coming youth sailor, of Indianapolis (on right); and 3rd place was Skip Kaub, event organizer, of Noblesville, Indiana (center).

Skip did a great job of getting people out onto the water, and getting a group of us into the garage and pit area at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday. Eagle Creek Sailing Club provided a wonderful venue, and great food and music. The winds were strong (from all directions <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />) both days, and the race committee set long fun courses. Several of us got to experience righting a Wave for the first time!

I would like to Thank Skip Kaub and the Eagle creek sailing club for one hell of a regatta. Skip personally brought five boats that were all race ready and very competitive. The conditions were very shifty and gusty which made for some AWESOME racing. All the racers did a great job and I think many new to the class are hooked on the small but exciting one handed Wave class. Again thank you Skip for making this event happen. I had a great weekend, at a great venue, and met many new friends... Isn't that what racing sailboats is all about..
