problem is i'm not going to have a crew to protect me from the spray anymore, and from what i have read and seen, the f16's tend spend more time upside down <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Hey Simon,

tipping over isn't essential. It's just a matter of how hard you want to push it. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

The attached photo did not end in a capsize. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Oh. I didn't realise you guys capsize so much because it was fun! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

To be fair. I didn't capsize once in five years sailing the stingray with my wife. She told me she would swim in and that would be the last time she would sail with me.

When we put the spinnaker on, we inspected the wrong side of the trampoline about 10 times.

For the record we are still married, but the stingray has gone and i am getting a boat i can sail 1-up. Hmmm?

Must be getting close now Simon!

What is it going to be called? Given all the basic names ie. "Blade" seem to be taken!

703 has become a legend! More submarine than catamaran!

btw- I subscribe to the "120 rule"; water and air temp. must equal 120F. or conditions are too extreme.

Now I just have to find thick wetsuit to for sailing during the winter. I have plenty of practice to do to keep up with the local catamaran fleet. How do you guys way up north do it?

G'day Simon it hasn't been really cold yet but I picked up a New 1mm longsleeve Quicksilver hyperstretch wetsuit jacket on e-bay for around $60, I wear it under the ronstan jacket, I'm very happy with the warmth and mobility. Too hot at the sauna sail but it wasn't cold there anyway.

Well it's been a bit longer than expected (actually a lot longer) but I'll be taking my new Blade out for it's first sail next weekend. We spent this weekend fiddling with the last few bits and pieces. The extra time spent building the boat has certainly been worth it though. The finish on the boat is amazing. When we put it on the scales it came in at 104.5kg. Not bad for a stock standard F16 with aluminium spars! I guess I have to spend another week dieting to find the extra half a kilo.

wetsuit shorts and rash vest should be enough during the summer.

Well done, Australian formula catamarans !

I'm impressed.

With a jib kit this boat will be underweight with respect to the 2-up 107 kg limit. Really, well done with a standard all aluminium setup.

I personally really like that Aussie Blade. I like the hulls (higher freeboard and fuller bows), I like the very clean finish inside the hulls, and I like the weights.

If I had to money to forfill my wish list ; I would buy this Aussue Blade and put daggerboards and rudders of www.catamaranparts.nl on it with a Glaser suit of upwind sails and a landenberger spi; possibly a carbon mast to (with landy sails). That boat would be quite something and real winner in handicap races.

Weather is allready apon us here......17 degrees sunny sky & a 8-12knots sea breeze teasing those who stood around on the shore & watched the others sail <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />
