Seeing it's a little quiet I thought I would share this photo which I found on 'Horsesmouth". It just goes to show that although us amateurs can make the occasional error of judgment and collide with another competitor you don't often hear or see tankers T'boning each other.....Just goes to show we're all human!!

Possibly the stuff that looks like a reef is oil and they have tied them together to stop the smaller ship sustaining further damage when they are separated.

I agree, I think the small is tied to big one to prevent it from sinking so to speak. I would imagine the small one is taking on some water so tying them up together would be extra security from capsizing and ultimately sinking. At least the front didn't fall off the big one <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
