You guys planning on taking an offical stand towards the Mandatory membership rule by USSA?

Time is running out to get a letter to Capron and the board before the vote.

Your silence will speak volumes as well!

While you are growing a pair ... a letter from your Yacht clubs (aka the sanctioning authority for your races) would be nice as well.

Mark, many of us have already voiced our opinions, with our checkbooks...

I am actually not sure if the US F16 class has a complete committee organisation and constitution.
But if they do I hope they do make a line in the sand stand..

We've had all those things in place for two years.

I would guess the discussion will heat up over the course of the week.

Personally, I haven't looked into the particulars. "The devil is in the details."

How is USS going to enforce their edict? Why not just ignore it?

I would ask generically and rhetorically if F16 sailors have ever been USSA members individually.. If not then the continued absence from the books does really send any message to USSA.. One doesn't miss what one never has had..

However a letter from the US F16 association will be noticed.

I've been a member for 30 years, until this year. I haven't written the letter or email to the boss yet, just too lazy and I know it's not going to change any of their narrow minds, so no hurry. I did save $60 though, and that's a lot of beer. Maybe I'll join the RYA, at least they will rent me a boat!

Mark,

My opinion is the US F16 Class Assoc should send a letter to US Sailing disapproving of the mandatory membership requirement.

As the North East F16 Representative on the U.S. Executive Council that's how I would vote, but I have not heard much discussion on this within F16.

I am not a US Sailing member and never have been. My personal action will preferably be to boycott races requiring membership, just on principle.

However, if my local yacht club that sponsors weekly evening races follows CBYRA and makes it a requirement, I may have to give in.

Guys,

It is appearent that "Capron" is a sneaky back- stabber ... he says one thing publically then does the opposite behind your back !!!!

This manditory membership has been proposed 3-4 times in the past in various forms over the years and the "rank and file" members have always voted it down !!! So now what does "Capron" do ... he's going around to Executive councils and trying to force this requirement down the throats of "Joe Average" by "Excutive Feat" !!! He is counting on us being "quiet sheep" so he can get this implimented .... then it will be impossible to change as we have just found out with the "Olympic Issue" no matter how many signatures/petitions we had.

It is time to cut this "B_stard" off at the ankles for the good of our sport!!!!

"All it takes for EVIL to triumph .... is for GOOD men to do nothing!!!!" author-unknown

If we do nothing and they are able to mandate this membership requirement then they will be able to claim that they have expanded US-Sailing Membership ... that their policies are correct ....

The current leadership of US-Sailing are IMMORAL B_STARDS that have violated every tenent of the "Corinthian Morals that we hold dear and govern our sport. Keep quiet and these B_stards win ... it is that simple!!!

PS: You noticed that I do not use the "honorific" term "MR" ... "Capron" does not deserve to be addressed as such ... You have to earn that right and he is no gentleman in any sense of the word.
