Does anyone know of any sailing clubs that sail beachcats around Baton Rouge, LA? I don't mind driving a couple of hours, but would like to sail with some experienced sailors and learn. Any help is appreciated?

Sincerely,

Lee

Try The Lake Charles Yacht Club. A good number of cats there and regular sailing. Dues are reasonable with mast up beach storage. There is also Lake Arthur Yacht Club but your distance/time would be the same, Lake Charles ~ 2 hrs. There is also False River Yacht club but don't know about their programs cat or otherwise. 'Bout all I can help with at this point. P.M. me if you need to discuss.

Well,,, we don't actually have a "club" but it the old SLSA (Southern Louisiana Sailing Association) founders and a few of their boats + a few others. We usually sail in Lake Desallmands out of a friends camp. No beach area, but the lake is big enough. PM me for some more info.

You can also try the LSU sailing club, The New Orleans clubs (South shore and North Shore), also Lake Palore in Morgan city might have a few cat sailors left.

Cypmorepoint is more than likely the "best" option for cat sailors.... maybe.

Also, if you head to the Gulf coast (Miss, Ala, Fla) your options get a little better. with OSYC as the best option. If you can try to make it to ocean Springs Ms. for the 4th of July. Thats the weekend for the Horn Island race.... well worth the drive!!!!!
