Hello. Please identify the boat in the photos. I have since cleaned the boat and it is very well made.The length is 13.5 ft. The ID on the hull indicates that it was made by sail Craft of Canada in 1982. It has distinctive low aspect boards with a curved circular shaped trailing edge that house entirely within the hull, pivoting in the well. But, of the top of my head I'd say it was
"nothing you'd want to be involved with".

It certainly looks like a POS. How do you know it was built by Sailcraft of Canada? Does it actually say that on the transom?

I'm surprised that Geoff Perry would have built that. Sailcraft made some really nice Tornados in the 70's and I was a dealer. I visited their plant in Montreal several times and didn't see anything else being built.
However, I lost contact with them by 1976, so perhaps when the Tornado production went bust, they went in that direction. Still.....that's a long step down from a Tornado.

I'm trying to look at that photo again and determine if it might be some cut down Tornado hulls. Probably not. Need a better photo.

Sailcraft made the Mystere which was a similar style/shape to that but it was 17' long so its not that.

Dont have a clue...But if its that hard to identify then finding parts for it should be a real pain, and from the looks of it it needs alot of parts and repair work. You would be better off finding a boat that is identifiable and has parts readily available. Maybe a hobie 16 or other boat would be easier on you and you could sail alot sooner! That boat looks really narrow...

Hello All. I hope soemone can ID this cat. The boat number on the transom is required for all boats made since the late 70's and for this boat the first letters indicate Sail Craft of Canada and the last numbers give the date. I have been sailing one design sailboats for over 44 years and hope that this cat would be a bit more steady on really really windy days than my Laser. I plan to sail it when the high performance A cats at my yacht club stay on the beach because it is too windy. I really would like to know as much as possible about this 13.5 ft cat. I will try to get some more pictures. Thanks Guys

I was jokin' with the POS comment. I thought it was just a pair of derelict hulls. Still...a better photo might clear it up.

I have been around long enough to have an opinion, I started cat sailing in 69 on a 18' cat with a lanteen rig. And I have seen a lot of bad designs in the intervening years, and many good ones. Karafiath, if you bought this boat I wish you good sailing.

Hello. I am sending some new photos. Please look and see if you can ID the boat. I was removing the antifouling paint.Unique features that help identify the boat are the unusual board shape. The board is painted with antifouling and is in the photo next to the cross beam. Each board pivots in the well and stays entirely within the hull. The cat also had only one rudder. I am missing the rudder. The mast is two piece , about 21 ft 9 inches. I am hoping to put a Hobie 14 sail on the boat. Does anyone have a source for getting a secondhand sail at a low price? This pisture helps some, but can you take some from the aft end as well. The hull shape and centerboards are somewhat similar to a scaled down tornado. What is the actual length and beam of the boat. You could post this on the tornadocat yahoo group and see if Geoff Dobbs could help if this boat does have SCoC ID on the hulls. Craigslist is actually a good place to look for sails, masts and misc parts.

For what it is worth the hull shape and centreboard design are very close to the Australian Stingray which was/is a potent 18 footer. Certainly the lack of a hull to deck join unlike the Aussie Maricat and to a lesser extent Windrush would mean you could run a 14' sail and rig and really keep pressing on in stronger winds. What is the beam? I would think you wouldn't want anything under 7'6" to 8'especially for stronger winds.

A center rudder? I remember seeing something like that a while back....can't recall though. Some photos of the sterns might help.

for help with cheap parts, like sails and possible rudders, you might want to mention in which part of the world you live....
