Brand new to the hobby. Just got a boat. Am moving to the Chicagoland area and am looking for cat clubs or groups to learn the ropes and meet new people. I don't know if I'm using the wrong search words but google searches are coming up with nothing.

Check out CRAW at crawsailing.org We have 4 or 5 members that come up to Wisconsin from the Chicago area

Thanks, I posted a message on your message board last night. We would enjoy taking to boat up there for a weekend of camping and sailing. Do you know if there are any similar groups in Chicago?

I am not aware of any specific catamaran groups in the Chicago Area CRAW has regetta's in WI You may also want to look into CRAM (the Michigan group) as well as OCRA (Ohio group) to see if any of thier regettas are closer to you.

Hey DangerMouse - I live in Evanston which is just North of Chicago. I do race with CRAW in Wisconsin from time to time but on a more regular basis there are a bunch of catamarans on the beach at the Northwestern University Sailing Center. It's open to the public and they allow both private boat storage and Hobie 16 rentals. It's a great beach for sailing and they also offer private and public classes.

hey uogecko

Thanks, I actually sailed up there to NorthWestern from Montrose about 3 weeks ago. Guy said they were full so I put my name on the waiting list for next season.

Lot of nice looking cats on that beach
