OK I guess I'll start. Last weekend at Charlevoix I noticed in the strong puffs upwind the boat wanted to "waggle" from side to side and also up and down. I didn't think of it at the time but should I raise the boards in a blow? If yes is it about 6"? Would that make it smooth out? I didn't think of it until I saw Andy's picture. I wanted to foot so the speed was great, it was the ride that made me a little uneasy.

Eric,

The "Easy Button" answer is yes, raise the boards about 6". For winds above 20kts and the speed increases with full board, the boat acts like it wants to trip and pitch forward. By raising the boards a little bit, it will smooth out the ride and be faster.

Ok I'll give it a try this weekend...because this season it seems there is only one type of wind....heavy air...

Like I said..I'm still rusty. Taking three years off I forgot a few things. Didn't know all that much anyway. At Charlevoix I had a screaming hangover all day Saturday. Not the sharpest tack that day anyway.
