Picture is from the European championship being sailed in Greece just now. Seeing no less than four Tornado teams go downwind is a surprise. Have they decided that it pays off in a breeze?

Double trapeezing on the Tornado is a real blast, but you are on the egde all the time, much more so than in regular mode.

Was it intentional, or did they overstand the leeward mark. I have found myself in that position on more than one occasion on the N20.

Or maybe they were headed to the beach?

Trying to lay the windward spacer in lightish breeze would be my guess or a big shift meaning the front boats all over stood the leeward gate?

I hope to find out about double trapping with the Kite on a T in 3 weeks time... <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Interested to hear more about this pic... they don't look like they are racing to me - too relaxed, sitting up looking around... I could be wrong.

In addition to a possible over-stand situation, I have seen the first pack around the top mark really heat it up as the leader heats up to defend and the rest heat up to attack.

But I still kinda feel like they're on vacation in that shot. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Definately overlayed or outside racing time...... Twin trapping downwind is bad for VMG.

I have no idea wether they are racing, going home or something else. There has been some time since the VMG tests, so I thought perhaps they had decided to re-evaluate the findings from the first generation mainsails and spis (with the alu rig).

Difference in track between lead (leeward) boat and windward boats seems too great for leg around spacer mark. Maybe it's just a windshift made them have to sail hot in close competition.

It is not an uncommon sight to see boats underlay and forced to sail twin string.

Yeah, but THAT MANY at one time? Maybe it was some dueling that got them in that position, but it is a nice photo...

How could they flick something so sexy from the Olympics?

I agree with the others, they are headed for the keg!

I am 99% sure they where not racing during that picture, everyone looks way to relaxed. They are probably heading back to the beach or something.
When you look at the rest of racing pictures of that day the crews where either barely single trapping or sitting on the tramp.

Tony, I can barely read a single post from you without sitting and watching "Bean" go through all his faces. Get a chuckle out of it every time. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
