My father and I picked up a late 70's early 80's Prindle 18 last summer. Only got it out once last year, but this year we really want to get into sailing. Got a DVD (Catamaran Sailing by Kenger Television) and have been trying to scour the internet for info but coming up short. We live near Lake Erie in Cleveland but don't know of any clubs/people in the area to hook up with. Any ideas?

Though I wasn't cat sailing then, I used to live in Aurora. You may have to travel a bit but Put-In-Bay is a hotbed for catsailing. They have several events a year and it's a terrific place to sail. Another good place to start looking is http://www.sailocra.com/ (Ohio Catamaran Racing Association).

Can you be more specific about where you live in the Greater Cleveland Area? There are various yacht/sailing clubs, depending on where you are.

Also, as Jake suggested, contact OCRA to see what is going on with catamarans in Ohio.

Thanks Jake and Mary! I live in Solon (East side of Cleveland). Thank you as well for the association link, I've been trying to find a good group to connect with. I've been talking to some people at West Marine (Downtown) and Sailing, Inc. (off I-90) and they said Whiskey Island is a hotbed for cat sailors. Either of you ever been over there? Again, thanks for responding.

P.S. I got my repaired sail back today and ordered some of the missing blocks on the mainsheet (?) system (the block system that goes from the mainsail boom to the traveler), so I'm excited that I'll have a (hopefully) fully functional system by next week.
