Conditions were generally light with minimal surf. The tides cooperated, so there was plenty of beach.
Great party! Steve, Pete- you guys rock! Thanks to all your volunteers and to the Acapulco Resort!
http://www.daytonahotels.com/Acapulco/index.php Put me down for next year!
Saturday got blown out after one race. The race committee definitely got the call right when they abandoned. The good part was the party! The Acapluco is very accommodating. Sailors gathered in the bar and restaurant area, drank a few, watched an intense storm blow through, and generally had a fine afternoon.
Saturday evening most of us made it down to the Ocean Deck. There are lots of places like the Ocean Deck, but only one genuine Ocean Deck. It's the definitive Daytona bar/restaurant/party spot. They have the best chicken wings I've eaten and a really funny, entertaining karaoke show. Karaoke was followed by a reggae band and dancing.
Sunday made up for Saturday on the water, with four races. That and a five hour drive home made it a little bit of an endurance test for me, but it was well worth it.
Gotta say the best single point in the regatta was seeing Terry Back on the beach Sunday afternoon! A blessing on your house.
