John Tomko and Ian Billings placed a camera on their shroud and then went for a sail in the Great Texas. As you can see in this picture on the Sailing Anarchy www.sailinganarchy.com, the camera captured one of the most intense cat sailing pictures ever. How fast do you think they were going? They average over 16 for the entire race and GPS's were maxing in the high 20's.

Also, there was a great spread in the Austin American Statesman on the Great Texas. See http://www.austin360.com/recreation/content/recreation/stories/2008/06/0623fitcity.html

Enjoy,
Steve

Go check out some of the earlier Adventureonline.tv Tybee videos from 2006. In the intro, there's a good shot of Capt. Kirk getting swept off the back of his boat (and Glen casually grabbing the stick out of his hand). Its like a video of the above picture.

A Pentax Optio W-30 (water proof compact camera) taped to the spreaders, with a large memory card and set to take pictures every few seconds throughout the leg.

This is a great picture. These were some tough sailing conditions. John and Ian were the only team I think who double trapped that day - when you were out on the wire you'd get slapped very hard by rogue waves.

Chris.

love that pic, think i will take it in to the photo shop to get printed off for the wall above my computer. great conversation starter as it draws you in with a "what the hell's going on in there?"

the SA front page has it at 1600x1200 resolution which should be more than enough for a $1 4x6

good rap for the optio too, will investigate more, cool setting to take pics automatically like that
