I want to put a sonar (that I had on my powerboat) on my Tiger (OK so I am a guage weenie <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> ) I am going to use an 18 volt battery and it requires 12 volts. Anyone know what I need to do to convert the voltage?
I plan to hang the sensor from the dolphin striker.

Try a converter instead, the voltage divider will not handle any big current draws on the Vout without voltage drops and it will pull loads of current through the resistors. An example of a dc-dc converter is a TEN5-2412WI.

Try the TEN10-1212, it can output 830 mA.
