If anybody is interested then you can find the EU version of the Nacra F17 as measured by the independent Texel rating officials here :

http://www.watersportverbond.nl/data/numdet_22-6-2008.pdf

A more thorough listing of specs can be found here :

All,

Here in the North American region, this is meaningless. I hope everyone is out this weekend enjoying their boats! I'm racing in a 2 day event here in Florida. How about everyone else? Let's here about it!

Bob,

It may be meaningless in NA; but the F17 is being promoted in the EU and there is considerable debate about what it rates.

2 guys at the F104 event got binned because they could not produce a valid certificate and I've been waiting a couple of weeks for this certificate so I can calculate a SCHRS rating.

Isn't the Nacra F17 class defined and promoted as a strict (single manufacturer) One-design class ?

In that light wouldn't specs measured in Europe have meaning with respect to American boats ?

I mean when the EU boat did so well in Round Texel this year did you yourself refrain from posting on it because such a thing is meaningless to the NA region ?

There seems to be one reason, why F16 sailors come to this forum or any other is to create problems & then afterward return back to the F16 forum & whine about being picked on. That pretty much summarizes the mentally of the F16 Class. That ridiculing other Classes will serve as a promotional for the F16 Class.

Last fall, I was seriously considering F16, F17 or FX One. Yes, the 16K price was one reason I dropped this boat from my list; but the second reason was the Class attitude.

I can’t be the ONLY person looking for a modern single handed cat that has been turned off by these postings on Cat Sailor Forums.

FYI: Keyboards are not available option on F17s or FX Ones

[SCHRS hat on]

All I want to do is get a rating up on the www.schrs.com website. Problem is that no-one will send me the measurement certificate so I can do this.

[SCHRS hat off]

As for F16 sailors coming into this forum; We've had numerous people, one masquarading as a girl going into the F16 forum for the explicit aim of causing trouble.

IMO, Wouter was pointing out that the Texel numbers do not support the view of Nacra (EU) that the boat rates within the SCHRS 1.035 and 1.045 which allows it to sail as F104. He links tio the measuremnts that were used for the Ronde Om Texel this year. Thus the boat must (I assume) have been measured at Texel) - Wouter, can you confirm that boats get measured at texel if they do not have a current rating for Texel?

I'm a previous Inter 17 owner; It's a fantastic boat; I just wanted a change.

In my experience, new or rare boats are not even allowed to race without providing an officially (ISAF recognized) measurement certificate at registration.

New or rare must be intepreted here as not belonging to a well established class in which other boats have been measured many times before and the class has been found capable enough in maintaining consistancy of specs. Such classes would be Hobie 16 and such.

I have witnessed personally that boats have been measured at the last moment in the main tent before entering the Round. This is however strongly discouraged by the Texel organisation. It is very much demanded that the boats are measured by officially certified measurers BEFORE the start of the Texel week. And an organisation like Nacra Europe knows this prefectly well.

The Texel committe aggrigates all this data and always publish these en masse typically 3 to 4 weeks after the event. When required to also do other updates at other times during the year.

With respect to the other stuff; we are just establishing facts here. Facts are facts no matter who is posting them. Hence the links to the sources, so anyone can check these sources out.

I agree. It's annoying when people trash talk your boat on an internet forum. It's one thing to make observations, critiques, suggestions, advice, after all we are never going to agree all the times but we can all learn something from each other and we don't have to keep banging on about the same point.

All,

It's way too hard to pin these guys down on anything, maybe it's top secret who knows? Anyway hope everybody is enjoying their boats this weekend.

I hope everyone is out this weekend enjoying their boats! Have you had a chance to explore new settings on the alum mast rig? Or are you getting the "honey-do" list down to a manageable level so you can play at the F17 North Americans? Let's here about it!

Rich,

Are you suggesting you didn't buy a boat beacuase of postings on a non regulated anonymous forum? I dont expect you will ever meet many of the people who post here, even if they do exist, and clearly some of them dont! Buy the best boat to suit you and enjoy the best sailing you can get. As for silly postings on forums...... just enjoy them, whether from boys pretending to be girls or from people who know everything! I would not recommend ordering your life and fun because of a forum!
