With a mix like that you would have to say that in F18s at least design has nothing to do with results. Most F18 sailors have been saying this for years but its hard to convince people not in or new to the class.

Greg Goodall gives me inspiration. If any of us can sail that well at his age you doing bloody well!

Imagine where he might be if he still had the body of a 20 year old.

In looking at the scores, there are 2 of each score. Did they split the fleet into an A and B, is there some sort of rotation, or am I just not reading the results right?

Two flights per race. I think there's 60 boats or so in each flight, so about 120 boats in the event. They'll make the cut into Gold and Silver fleets after tomorrow.

JC says "Hi everyone." It has been a light 6-8 knot event so far. Possibly up to about 12 knots for tomorrow. Jacques Bernier from Hobie Cat USA is crewing for Taylor Booth - they are in 11th after five races.

Update from Cammas at http://www.cammas-groupama.com/en/courses/f18_worlds_2008/news/actu_f18_worlds_04.jsp

He dropped a lot of places on the 2nd day, finishing 19th and 23rd.
Cammas is showing what a skilled sailor he is, good for him that the wind is light.
Interesting battle between Mischa and his former student Coen, looks like there's some very close racing going on there.

Cammas performance is quite impresive. Although he is being helped by light weather as he points. Over 12-15knots, more experienced F18 sailors will prevail as Cammas also report in his own site.

54?? nice, so the age range for competitive Tornado/F18 sailing is huge.
Santiago Lange is 46! And Hagara, Booth and else are somewhere mid 40s too

Looks like there will be 6 qualifying races before the split into a Gold and Silver fleet. Does anyone know if the scores from the qualifying races carry over into the finals, or do they start from scratch after the split?

"...The final races will start on the day following sixth race. On the day of sixth qualification race it will be possible to race other qualification races, an incomplete third round robin is no ground for redress under RRS 62. The score of all qualification races, except the one excluded will be valid" - - http://f18.es/nigran2008/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=28
