The swivel Cleat base of my Prindle 16 broke and I having problems finding the original part. Does anyone know where to find it? Is it possible to replace it for a similar part?

Thanks,

A guy down the street from me has a most of a Prindle 16 he does not have enough of it to sail and wanted to do some scary things to it like mount a plywood deck on it and put on an electric motor.

Anyway if you can somehow show me what exactly that part is he may have it and probably doesn't need it. Mine is an 18 and I don't think I have one of those.

I've got no source for an old swivle cleat, but have seem them on some older cats and even some old dingy thingies.

On the other hand I saw a guy who put a plywood deck, seating console and motor mount on a beach cat and a big outboard.

It went fast and seemed to handle surprisingly well.

I think Mary mentioned a similar contraption on this forum in April:

I was thinking the cleats on the front crossbar for the jib that the Prindle 16 has and the 18 doesn't. It sounds like maybe you need the one on the back crossbar that the main sail blocks go through. I may just go get them all from him I all ready relieved him of all his standing rigging including several blocks and shackles. even a really nice quick clip one. I thought the the rigging itself was shot and was gonna toss it but after looking closer it was just the coating on the cables that made them look shot the cables them selves look all right. So I have 2 side stay cables and a Forestay cable and 4 trap lines for a Prindle 16 plus all the extra blocks and shackles for about $10. Plus I bought his Cat Box for $50. I didn't take any of the cleats that were attached to the boat though. They should still be there.
