My E-Z step slides to starboard below the 45 degree angle. Should this be expected? I can live with the slide, but would like to know if anybody else has had this problem and what they've done. Thanks Mikemac H21se - snowbound for only two more weeks

I would look for a couple of things; first, see if the surface you are parked on is flat. If it's angled, the mast might want to float in that direction. Also, the straps can be adjusted on each side. What I did was to spend some time on a non-sailing day (ie; no pressure to get rigged and get out there!) raising and lowering the mast, adjusting the side straps as needed. My similiar problems disappeared after that.

Hello,
Like Sheldon said, if the side straps are adjusted properly, it will stay perfectly centered. Here is a photo of mine while raising the mast on my Prindle 18.

Mine works out that I can push the adjuster loop of my trap line through the fairlead that the barberhauler block is fastened. The hook on the E-Z-Step strap clips on this loop. The mast and pole will stay in exact allignment every time.
Good luck,
