Who won the bid?

Ernie Keibler? or the Christmas elf who wanted to be a dentist?

I was really afraid you guys were roadies. I am a gravity racer, race DH and Slalom. I also do alot of dirt jumping on mountain bikes. Maybe Dave could plan a bike and sail event in Columbia sometime. If you haven't done it yet go check out the lift assisted bike park in Asheville, NC its called 26 West. They have a website I believe. Snowshoe in WV is awesome as well, got up there twice this summer....awesome riding.

I used to ride a 930, steel is real! I ride full squish for racing but have a full rigid for street and park riding. I am semi sponsored by Transition bikes, check out their website if your looking for a new rig sometime soon.

Yeah,
It is currently setup for commuting, Armadillo slicks on skinnier rims and bigger chain ring. But since we moved it does not see much use. No rush on a new rig, too many hobbies as it is (drag racing being the other dormant pastime.)

we can ride New Years Day/Eve around the Hangover Regatta.
Michael, last time I rode Sugar Mtn downhill, my buddy ended up in the Watauga County ER. The year before I wiped out at high speed and gashed my arm open. We poured some beer over it to sterilize it, and kept biking. My bones are too brittle for the downhill thing, but a good trail ride is always fun.

I hear ya Dave. I've taken some serious spills in that slippery creek at Sugar. They didn't hold a race this year at all. Maybe my money situation will be better by New Years, I plan to skip X-mas.

Looks like this might be a light air event. Reports are saying max wind of 5 mph all weekend. Nice weather though, sunny and highs in the low 80s.

One thing I've noticed all summer is that the wunderground forecasts were consistently UNDER the actual wind that showed up. Oftentime we'd be forcasted for 5 and we got 10-15 on wednesday nights on Lanier.

Gas is much better in Atlanta now, so all that fretting was for naught.
I've read that the camping area can accommodate 5-10 camping groups. Does this area usually fill up?
What kind of cooking facilities (breakfast) are at the club? Or should I bring something cold?
Is lunch on Saturday available?

There is plenty of camping available around the catamaran beach area.... for RV and tents. They do a great job of providing breakfast (cereal, bagels, fruit, juice and coffee) You are on your own for lunch. I normally pack granola bars and fix peanut butter on bagels for the boat.

You'll want to save your appetite for that big fat juicy steak Sat night.

Lots of tent space, but really only 5 "campsites"-electricity, picnic table, shelters. We usually have 5 or 6 RV's and 5 or more tents in the designated camping area. There is also a large grassy area right in front of the club for more tent space. The club has 2 bath facilities, total of 6 showers, plenty of porta potties and new bath facilites.
As far as b-fast, there will be continental style b-fast, and hot dogs for lunch(not part of regatta fee, but only $1 each. There are not any public cooking facilites available, but electricity at campsites for griddles and such. we are 1 mile from an exxon station that serves a really good b-fast, and a few miles from anything you want. Sunday the Ladies auxillary cooks hamburges for $5 and it comes with beans, chips, drink and cookies.
Friday night Carraba's throws out a huge buffet with lots of hor devoures, enough to fill up on. Then Outback cooks a mean steak on Saturday night with fries, salad, cheesecake and drink.

Big beach area for cats, bring your beach wheels. Gas is plentiful and $3.60-3.70's today.

I just returned from setting my trailer up and hooked up to the one working power outlet. I used a 3-way cord so there are two empty plugs available.

The picnic table near the cat lot has a broken outlet so it might need repairs before it can be used.

Skeeters were bad!
