Boats started showing up on the beach this afternoon. The Key Team has the charter boats set up, and JW is supposed to get in tonight with the scales to begin weighing in tomorrow. Teams will be practicing/tuning Sat/Sun, with skipper's meeting and welcome party Sun at 6pm at Pensacola Beach Yacht Club across the street.

I'm gonna try to get results posted here immediately after each race starting Monday morning.

Stay tuned!!

Today we have measured and weighed in about 20 boats. All of the newer Nacras (Performance Sails) spins measured in very close, one was over. 4 or 5 new Infusions just put together. Great weather, the northerners love it, the southerners bitching its hot. Some pictures up, more to come.

Today (Sunday) was a practice day and we got in 3 races with 22 boats. The starts were very exciting and I'm looking forward to the 30+ boats on the line Monday. We have all the boats measured and weighed and only two teams left to weigh that will fly in tonight. Action shots are up for viewing here:

Nope, bad karma to win practice races anyway.

Ok, onto the good stuff. 33 teams are launching at this moment into 10-15 E breezes, good chop at 2-3 feet, 78 degrees, mostly cloudy skies. Start estimated at 11:15 central time. I've got wireless contact with pin set boat. Stay tuned for top 10 finishing positions after each race.

JC and Kemmy together again, sweet! Looks like a real tough fleet, but I got my faves....
And now onto the real topic...the infusions and Cap's are dominating. Do you think there is a boat differnece now? They sure keep evolving, theres got to be some advantage here over the older NACRAF18's and Tiger's, what do you think?

I would say maybe a ~little~ difference in performance. I think it's more of a direct correlation that most top guns have a permanent case of "shiny-itus". There's not been anything new and shiny about a Tiger in a looooong time so most of them are now sailing the new(r) Infusion and Caps.

Monday's pictures are up. Tuesdays pictures are being sorted out and upload over the next few hours. I'm sorting through over 500 shots just today and several are killer.

Jake,
I'm quickly gaining a new appreciation and respect for the efforts that you have put in the past to keep everyone informed while attending a major regatta event. It ain't easy.
