Hi group,
I was racing this past weekend on my H20 . The hollow Harken push pin that holds the boom to the mast sheared with a big bang. I used the mast raising pin as a temporary fix during the race. I have replaced it with a solid pin. I have also decided to change the forestay/furler connection to a solid pin. Has anyone else had this type of failure ?
Regards to all
Ken

Fast pins have been known to fail under heavy loads. DON'T EVER use one in the standing rigging.

I have seen them fail, seize, fall out, and i had one work a larger hole into my sail clew plate where it attached to the boom (at the worst possible time, in a heavy blow right next to a sea wall)...

You may also consider getting a Super Goose to replace your gooseneck yoke.

Second the Super Goose - best aftermarket Hobie part ever.

After watching Lionel Messi play, I realize I need to sail harder.
