Dacron sail make awesome awnings and deck accents. I knew a place in Gulf Breeze that would pay you a few bucks for old sails that they strung up over an outdoor deck.

After watching Lionel Messi play, I realize I need to sail harder.

Posts: 1,253 Columbia South Carolina, USA | As John said, our youth sailors had old donated sails made into ladies bags and sail bags for next to nothing, then sold them to raise money. Anyone with talent and a sewinf machine can make you something cool, especially if your numbers and/or emblem is visible

Quite often sails you do not keep, work well for our programs with minimum repair. We go thru a lot of sails each year. Sail repair is also part of our training. www.sailsandpoint.orgCaleb Tarleton Sail Sand Point, Seattle | | | Re: What are old sails good for?

Posts: 2,844 42.904444 N; 88.008586 W | I had a windbreaker made out ot one of my old Dacron P 18-2 mainsails once.
It was really cool, the huge P and the smaller 18-2 took up the whole back. It had a hood and everything.
Then after a few years, the old dacron ripped, so I then trashed it.

Posts: 1,449 | I have seen old sails strung up between trees at restraunts over outdoor eating areas. It has to be just the right type of location with old buildings etc to look right but it did give a real laid back casual feel to the restraunt.
