For all the folks doing the Tybee this year.
What feeder or training races do y'all plan on doing. I'd like to get together with some folks and do a little sailing.
Would there be any interest if we put together a 25-30 mile distance race here on the Outer banks of NC before the Tybee on an open weekend. Velocity and Seacats teams especially this would be closer for you guys.
We plan on doing Spring Fever(if) and possibly the SA CHAW regatta if there is a decent amount of N-20s and F-18s going.We're open to others ,but haven't heard much.

I'd go for a weekend sailing out of coastal SC (Myrtle Beach/Isle of Palms). In fact, TVS 1-4 already have a practice day in the works for April on the SC coast. You are welcome to join.

I would definitely be into a distance sail/some practice before Tybee. Its going to be a stretch for me to get my boat all the way down south before the race so NC or SC would be a good compromise and a bit more doable. Any thoughts on a weekend?

I was tentatively planning on sailing Hogs Breath 100 depending on my work/school situation... similar practice closer to home might is a bit more feasible. Anyone else thinking about the Hogs Breath race?

Isle of Palms would be great.. double stack would be even better ***cough Tad***

TVS 2 is planning on ramping up in March doing the SC45, then the CHAW regatta, then Spring Fever. After that, we'll be having practice days down at the coast like Trey said.

And yes, Brett, We'll be double stacking where-ever both of us go. Only question is whose car do we take? Yours or mine? My new truck has more space than the old one did but its still a bit limited in backseat area.

Isle of Palms is a hrd place to sail from, we talked about the old Myrlte Beach Distance race this weekend. Its 24 miles(one lap) From Springmaid Beach to the sea bouy at Murrells Inslet and back. Was alot of fun back in the day. Ive got a line on SpringmaidBeach, heres the camera right off the beach at Springmaid.

From what I understand, you can actually drive up on the beach.

Maybe you can, we had a hard time a number of years ago. We need local knowledge, I only know that typically parking is scarce, and parking fines are plentiful.
Many years ago the SEACATS wanted to do a distance race from IOP to M Beach~ 80 miles. It was one leg of the old Worrell, but safety and chase boats was an issue for us, but it would still be a good ride.

I have a contact in IoP. I might be able to go ahead and get some info.

I can fit 4 people comfortably and have plenty of space in the back...or if needed pack everything on the trailor and throw up the back row and fit 6 people. I'm up for driving; might as well put the warranty to good use. I'm currently jobless so any practice sessions you guys want to do count me in.

Hogsbreath is too close to the Tybee for me. If I broke something major ,replacing it could be an issue. Came real close to having that problem in the past.
