Check it out.

The SoCal schedule is up on the F18 site. Only one of the events is F18 specific, so c'mon out and play. Don't see the schedule for your area there? Click on "Contacts" and see who your Rep is, or register on the site to add dates of your own.

Danke!

Hey John,
Who's sailing where for SCYA Midwinters? The regatta site says that ABYC has 'Beach Cats (one-design & Portsmouth)' while MBYC has 'Inter 20. Hobie cats. F-18'.

Hi Robert -

I wanted to look into only having one multihull venue for Midwinters this year to get participation up. If you look at the results from the last couple of years for the event, though, it appears that just about all of the MBYC fleet is highly unlikely to travel to ABYC, and there were more boats on the line up here. We decided it would be kinda pointless to try and convince MBYC to NOT have a start for cats - it would only increase the size of the fleet at ABYC by two or three boats at best, at the expense of potentially four or five locals down there.

If you have an interest in coming up, there will be a lot of F18s at ABYC - we picked up five new F18 members since last year's event, so we're pushing 15 boats on the line. And MBYC came up here and won it last year.

I'll see what the MBYC sailors are planning. Since most of the N20s are at MBYC, I doubt they'll travel. The F18's (~5 or so active) and A's (2) might be convinced though. I'm thinking of coming if I can 1) get out of something else that Saturday, and 2) borrow a trailer and line up a crew, or find a boat to crew on.

Dennis will be driving up. Depending on his foot healing, Damon might be coming up, too. Neither is towing a boat. Let me know and we'll figure out a place for you to stay so you don't have to get a hotel.

Hi John,

Any clue on what will be in the the Portsmouth class at ABYC? Last few years I've had to trek to MBYC for MidWin's to battle the I20's. If it looks like a reasonable Portsmouth fleet shaping up, I can shorten my drive.

Aslo, could we get the only two distance races open to Beach cats put on your list...the TriPoint and Milt Ingram? Never seem to attract the F18 crowds to these great events.

I can find out this years dates and get back to you.

Absolutely let's get those dates on the schedule - I looked and looked and couldn't find them posted anywhere. Once they're on, I'll send the schedule to Mary for inclusion in Catsailor.

AFA the Portsmouth fleet here - it was non-existent last year. One F16 that opted to start with the F18s. In SoCal, I think we're seeing people converge on the Hobie 16, F18, and A-cat fleets. Portsmouth is really dwindling. Even Brandon, the touchstone of the N20s, raced F18 as much as he did on the 20.

If you come up, there's no way you'll be denied entry, but you'll almost definitely be sailing with the F18s.

I won't mind racing the shorties...but will they & the RC mind me? They'd have to record finish times and do the math frown

P.S....I'd be coming "down" to ABYC...I'm in Ventura.

Not a problem - we had an F16 with us last year. I think the fleet would rather have you racing than not.

OK, found the 2009 monohull calendar. The Tripoint & Milt Ingram are run by Pierpont Bay YC in Ventura harbor. NOR's to be posted later.

7/11/09 Milt Ingram (around Anacapa Island to Port)

8/22/09 Tri Point Ocean Race (Around Anacapa Island to Starboard)

Full Calendar
