Guys and Gals,

I am curious to know where you all sail in Qld, which clubs and localities...and promote the class there as well as trying to see what can be done to get you all back into the National Asociation.

Other than that, I have been asked where you are and I have not much idea, so please let me know.

Thanks,

David.

Hi David,

I sail on the lake here in Mt Isa. One of my workmates has a Nacra and another guy should have his Taipan ready to sail here soon as well. As far as I know we are the only 3.
Work will be transfering me to Brisbane about July so I will be looking for a place to sail from when I get there.

Just an update, as it stands, from my understanding, theres 3 mosquitos in qld, i sail regularly at bribie island, lake samsonvale and humpybong (im located at bribie, but our sailing calendar is fairly irregular, so i travel most weekends), and there are 1-2 mosquitos at cleveland.

I would love to help in anyway to helping promote the class up here in qld and get it into the nation association and would love to see enough boats up here one day to hold states, and even possibly a nationals.

Regards,
Michael.

Hey there,

I am one of the Qld mossie's.

Hi Matt - good to know there is another one of us.

I will be sailing from Cleveland Yacht Club in a few weeks, have been completing a rebuild of the boat I brought up from Sydney.

Will also sail with Micheal sometimes to have some mossie action.

My work coleague is going to complete a set of hulls I picked up in NSW to put his boat 'Bodyline' - #1373 I think, back together after he broke a hull some years ago.

He may sail from Cleveland as well.

I would be interested in moving towards having a Qld association and linked to National body.

Had also thought maybe a joint Qld / NSW Assoc. while numbers are lower.

At Cleveland quite a few of the cat sailors used to sail Mossie's, now the fleet is mostly a Nacra variant.

So we have 2 definates in South East Qld, 1 in Mt Isa but returning to SEQ 2009 and 1 build to complete.

By end of year probably have 4 on the water in SEQ.

Are there any more?

Hi Furr Ball,

Work has moved me to Brisbane and I am now looking for places to sail. I am thinking about the Humpybong Yacht club. I am new to Brisbane and still finding my way around. On my days off I am building a new set of rudders for the old girl.

Humpybong is a good catamaran racing club, they have alot of a class and several taipains as well as a few f18s, some hobies, a couple maricats and an arrow, they usually race every weekend, however, they almost never go out in anything 20 knotts or above, as they usually feel the waves are a bit too high for them. If humpybong is blow out, lake samsonvale, which is only 30 minutes away is another great catamaran sailing club, they have a-class, taipans, hobie 16s, cobra, and even a tornado (no spin), the lake is very flat and fast, and unless its blowing 30 knotts, they will almost always be sailing, samsonvale however, race every second sunday. If im not racing at bribie island (which is most weekends as bribies sailing calendar is quite scarce) ill be sailing my mossie at either humpybong or lake samsonvale.

At the moment, as it stands, ill be racing my mossie at humpybong this sunday (8th), at bribie on the 15th, humpybong on the 22nd, and samsonvale on the 1st of march.
Hope to see you out on the water soon with your mossie.

Michael.

Hey there,

One moment there were none, the next 3 almost 4.

Can I suggest Matt, Michael and myself meet up at one of the clubs to sail sometime in March and have a chat about doing some positives towards mossie's in SEQ.

I am open to which location we choose, seems like we have 3 committed sailors here and could build on this.

Good idea?

Guys (Qld ones),

In the next issue of Multihul World I have had an ad run giving the conatcts for the various state bodies.
I have taken the liberty of combining both NSW and QLD as I have no contact for you all in SEQ.

Please keep us all in the loop as to your plans for the future in regard to restarting the QLd assoc.....and look forward to catching up with you all soon.

Until then, good sailing.

David (Nat Sec)

Hey there,

Hope to have something on the beginnings of Qld assoc. soon.

We are trying to meet up and start talking about it all.

Is there a NSW Assoc. still in existence? Hope so but seems to have disappeared.

Drew,

I will get hold of Ben and ask him to conatct you asap.

He is the point of conatct at the moment, and will be good to see both Qld and NSW grow again.

David
