Sunday TeamCyberSpeed and Quietly Making Noise made it out to sail off of Singer Island. Good day for a shake down sail after an overhaul. Both 30-year-old boats had some welding, a little fiberglass, West Systems epoxy, and new shinning paint over the last year. A little wind, clear blue ocean water, and massive amounts of alcohol made for a great day.

I was breaking in a new crew that could not hang it over the side to relieve nature’s call so he jumped in. Jokingly I told him to look out for the sharks. Little did I know a shark almost hit CyberSpeed minutes earlier. Within the hour we called it a day to beat the rain and sunset. As we were dropping sails on the beach a surf fisherman reeled in medium sized spinner shark. Then he reeled in several more in the next 30 minutes. It gave my new crew a bit of a go seeing the sharks biting almost as soon as the hook was out.

I told him to not worry about sharks they only bite surfers. The fish you have to watch out for are the barracudas. Barracudas are 1/3 teeth and they are psycho fish. Few years ago we had them jumping in boats (fishing boats) attacking people. A few peolpe had nasty bites. When I was a diver years back I always kept an eye for psycho fish.
