Anybody know the stock length of the bridles (for forestay and EO spin pole bracket)? Just ordered new bridles and they are about 1 inch longer than the set on my N2O. Measurements from pin hole to hole...

I can get you the forestay bridles, but the spin pole bridle length will be different based on luff length of spin. The bridles that were attached to my new spin pole when I got it were like 6" too long - they didn't even put any prebend in the pole. Hell they didn't even hold the pole onto the pin on the beam.

I had a set of spectra bridles made through a series of trial and error on the length. Finally got a length that worked for me.

There is no set length for either. It's just another one of the fun grab bag programs you get from Performance. I replaced my bridles with another set I had and they were an 1" longer each. The new set I'm ordering (the longer ones) are 40 1/4", bearing surface of pins for measurement. For your spin bridles I'd get them about 6" short and make a spectra pigtail to adjust with.I use a midl\pole and have no idea where my endpole bridle is, so can't give you a number.

Helen,

If you are not sure about what length you will recieve from Performance and you know the length you need call Murray's or Layline or APS .... all of them will make a bridle wire to your specification. I've used Murray's and APS recently ... Layline a few years ago ... they all provided exactly what I specified.

On my P19MX I'm using spectra/vectra/Dynema currently for my bowfoil bridles and spinpole rigging .... works very well and is very cost effective. Much cheaper then "wire rope" and marine terminals w/ swagging fees. I replace them every several years ... and in theory they are supposely stronger then "wire rope" bridles.

Just offering alternatives

The short answer is that I mistakingly acquired bridles which accomodate a roller furler at 40 & 1/4 inches with the clevis forks 90 degrees offset. I'm returning them for the non roller furler lengths of 39 inches with the forks in parallel planes.

We have gone to textile rigging for _everything_ except the forestay on my F27GS trimaran (and I'm thinking about the forestay.) This includes shrouds, bobstay and martingales, and all halyards. Shrouds are Dynex Dux and other rigging is Amsteel Gray. Even the trampoline lacing is Amsteel (it doesn't squeek.)

Tami,

I know what a Bobwhite is and a Nightingale also .... what kind of bird is a bobstay or martingale???? Ha Ha Ha

I have a ride as part of the "Race Crew" on Triple Threat ... the only F43 ever built. What a Hoot ... we got a new jib late last year and a new spinnacker on the way. The shrouds that hold up the 60' rotatible Carbon mast are Amsteel (grey). The crew is a dis-reputable group of local "beachcatters" including Glenn Ross, Mark Schnieder, John Schlossberg, Aric Euler, Rob Lancaster and myself. And is she fast, we hit +24knots under spin in a race last year. Ain't it fun passing momomorans .....

I just had new rigging made by Hall Spars.
I got all the measurements from Performance... when compared with my old rigging some seemed right some didn't.
They told me 39" for the bridles and that's what my old ones were so thats what I got for new ones.
I didn't replace my spin pole bridles but I am still using the ones on my midpole that I had on my endpole just with a spectra pigtail (like Todd said) thats a few inches longer. The spectra allows you to adjust for luff tension.

We wanted to have Tony make a new spinnacker for Triple Threat ... but Tony has a "Do Not Compete" agreement w/ Quantum for sailmaking for larger boats. And it would be very obvious that the spinnacker is not for a beach cat ... so we could not get Tony to make one for us. I believe Doyle is making the new spinnacker for us. I would really, really, really, really wished Tony could have made it for us. I know Tony would have made an excellent spinnacker ... and I would have liked Tony to have made the $$$$'s for his pocket and not someone elses.

I wanted to go see the Quantum loft manager and explain the "realities" from our side ... we maybe on a large Tri but we are a bunch beach catters .... and we know Tony and his work .... Do you want the order??? Yes or No ... If you do then Tony designs and constructs the spinnacker ... If that doesn't work for Quantum then the order goes to Doyle. But we thought that may put Tony in trouble w/ Quantum ... so the order went to Doyle who was very happy to take the order.
